Warwick Osmond

Warwick Osmond is a high school Geography teacher in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), South Africa. He was born, raised and went on to study in this coastal South African city. Warwick and Ian, the editor of Geotravel Journal, met and became good mates during those university years. They used to travel the backroads of the Cape Province in Ian’s 1972 VW Camper.

After qualifying as a high school teacher in 1989, Oz embarked on a many-facetted teaching career which is still ongoing. He has taught in two boys high schools, two co-ed high schools, and one co-ed primary school. He has been a deputy principal and a principal during this time and always a teacher of Geography, History and English.

Warwick is an avid traveler who relishes the excitement of visiting new places. He has road tripped the entire US, worked on a Kibbutz in Israel, and travelled the Middle East. Oz loves to fish the east coast shoreline of Southern Africa, and he enjoys reading on a variety of topics, with history and travel being favorites. When traveling, he enjoys journaling, and his many years of reading and grading school assignments have eft him with “auto-editor” permanently toggled to the “On” position. His eye is drawn to grammatical and editorial errors which need correcting. Being able to cast an eye over stories published  by GTJ offers him a fresh window into the world he has traveled and loved for decades.
